# Update User’s WA Opt-in Status

**What it does:**\
Updates the user’s WhatsApp opt-in consent status in the system. This determines whether the business is allowed to send WhatsApp messages to the user.

**When to Use:**

* When capturing user consent for WhatsApp communication<br>
* After a user explicitly opts in or opts out<br>
* During compliance flows (e.g., GDPR/WhatsApp policy adherence)<br>
* When syncing opt-in status from external systems or user actions<br>

**UI Inputs:**

* **Opt-in Status (Value)**
  * **Type:** Dropdown (enum)<br>
  * **Required:** Yes<br>
  * **Description:** Select the user’s WhatsApp opt-in status<br>
  * **Options:**
    * `true` → User has opted in<br>
    * `false` → User has opted out<br>
    * `unknown` → Opt-in status is not known<br>
  * **Special Behavior:**
    * Must be explicitly selected (no default)<br>
    * Directly updates the stored user consent property<br>

    * `true` → Opt-in status was successfully updated<br>
    * `false` → Update failed<br>
