Writing Efficient Prompts for template creation and Prompt bank
Writing prompts: how to think about it
A prompt is just a small brief you’d give a copywriter.
Try to cover:
What happened
abandoned cart, order shipped, order delivered, sale started, etc.
Who we are talking to
new users, repeat buyers, high-value customers, COD users, etc.
What we want them to do
finish checkout, rate their experience, visit sale page, reply with a choice, etc.
Tone
friendly, formal, festive, premium, urgent-but-not-spammy, etc.
Variables you have
name, order ID, product name, cart link, discount code, delivery date, etc.
Buttons / CTAs (if you need them)
e.g. “View Cart”, “Track Order”, “Give Feedback”, “Shop Now”.
Simple template for a prompt:
Create a WhatsApp template for [use case] for [audience] in a [tone] tone. Goal: [what we want the user to do]. Variables: [list variables]. Buttons: [list buttons + type: URL / quick reply]. Language: [language].
What makes a good prompt (quick tips)
You can keep this as a short checklist for anyone using AI templates.
A good prompt:
🎯 Is specific
instead of “marketing template”, say “abandoned cart reminder for users who added to cart in last 24 hours”.
👥 Mentions the audience
new customers vs old customers vs VIPs behave very differently.
🎯 Has a clear goal
“complete purchase”, “share feedback”, “visit sale page”, “confirm delivery”.
🗣️ States the tone
“friendly”, “formal”, “festive”, “premium”, “service-first”.
🔢 Lists variables
so variables appear in the right place in the text (
name,order_id,link, etc.).
🔘 Asks for buttons if needed
specify if you want URL buttons or quick replies.
If a prompt follows these points, the output quality goes up a lot.
